RAWR!

Chapter 1: Escape?

Fisk sighed. Being stranded in a forest got old fast. The shock every time a tiger or  wolf walked by wore off fast once you figure out that tropical forests like this one are crawling with them, among other animals.

Fisk was a fourteen year old boy with thick, short, black hair and dark tanned skin. Fisk and one other boy, Jay, had been lost in a forest for several days. Fisk was two years older than Jay, and very quiet. Jay was very adventurous, being the one who got them lost.

After Jay had fallen out of the tree they were sleeping in one night, tigers started to surround them. "Sheesh, It really IS full of Tigers!" He had exclaimed. Fisk had cleverly suggested that they play dead. The tigers left after spotting a rather oversized rabbit.

"Wait, wouldn't the tigers have eaten us anyways?"  Jay said, skeptically.

"I guess that rabbit's dead feet were lucky for us." Fisk answered. Jay chuckled.

The two boys had stumbled across a river, and Fisk had suggested that surely there would be civilization near a river. Jay argued briefly that it was a rainforest, and that Indians could plant crops anywhere, but they decided to follow the river anyway.

Jay began to give up after a while. "We're going in circles!" He shouted.

"Jay, the river's straight." Fisk rationed.

"God this forest is big!" Jay shouted again. The two boys lived in a village in the middle of this huge forest. No one in the village had ever seen the outside with their own eyes, considering how old the village was. They had seen maps, though. The forest was large enough that anyone who had gotten outside would have difficulty finding their way back.

"Maybe there really is no return from the forest..." Jay said. His grandfather had always told him that it was known as the forest of no return. Of course, this was a lie. Everyone knew it as the Lyn'knoll forest.

"Jay, magic is fictitious." Fisk rationed. While it wasn't the forest of no return, there was no way to tell wether or not an explorer found their way out, because no one ever came back.

It had always been Jay's dream to see the world. "Do you think we'll make it, Fisk?" He asked.

"Hmm" Fisk hummed. Which, of course, was his way of saying 'Make what?'

"Y'know, to the outside!" Jay said enthusiastically. Before Fisk could answer, Jay tripped over a rock and hit the ground.

Clumsy Jay.
